One of the only things West of the infamous San Andreas fault, clinging to the edge of the North American continent, is the little township of Bolinas. The well-hidden community is home to an enclave of artists, writers, musicians, fishermen and other colorful characters.

Smiley's Schooner Saloon and Hotel, established in 1851, is one of several overnight accommodations. The Saloon is open seven days a week with live entertainment Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, featuring top Bay Area musicians. The establishment also offers board games, a pool table, darts, light meals, snacks, an ATM machine, and the towns only check cashing facility. The cafe opens at 8:00 am, Monday-Friday; 9:00 am Saturday-Sunday.

A walk through the village reveals shops, art galleries, a museum and two restaurants. The Bolinas lagoon flanks the edge of main street while a block away the surf breaks on a southern-exposed protected bay. The Point Reyes National Seashore and the Pacific Flyway are around the corner.

West Marin offers many outdoor activities including swimming, fishing, surfing, boating, hiking hang gliding, golf and horseback riding, all just minutes from Bolinas. Our staff will be glad to help you with any arrangements necessary for these pursuits or any other questions you may have.
